The production toured to different sized venues, and the scalloped, circular walls were designed to allow expansion for large venues, or could be squished inwards for small venues. In both cases the circular shape of the set drew the focus into the centre, and the fading to black edges of the floor helped the set to sit in it's own isolated world in any sized theatre. The encircling shape also helped to keep the audience within the world of the play, and the skeletal curved fire place and side table helped to ease the eye into the onstage world.
